COLUMBIA TUSCULUM, OH (FOX19) -

Police are searching for a suspect who led police on a high speed chase near Columbia Tusculum, crashing into multiple vehicles.

An officer from the Ohio State Highway Patrol was patrolling Columbia Parkway around 9:15 a.m. Thursday morning when the incident occurred.

"He was patrolling Columbia Parkway when he attempted to stop a vehicle for speeding," explains Matt Hamilton of the Ohio State Patrol. "The vehicle failed to stop, the trooper initiated pursuit and pursued the vehicle for less than five minutes."

Officers say that the suspect vehicle turned around during the pursuit and proceeded North on Delta Avenue. Authorities say that the suspect appears to have ran a red light and struck a brown Subaru. The driver of the Subaru was later transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

Police say the suspect continued to flee and struck a second vehicle, a white pickup truck, a short distance later.

After striking the second vehicle, the driver of the suspect vehicle got out of his car and fled on foot. Police are currently searching for the suspect and following up on leads.

Authorities say a second man was in the passenger seat of the suspect vehicle. The passenger of the suspect vehicle was transported to UC Medical Center with minor injuries.

Police add that the suspect vehicle did not belong to the man driving. The vehicle is registered to a woman.

The investigation is ongoing. FOX19 will continue to update the story as details become available.
