JAMES ISLAND, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A missing kitten had to be rescued from a drainpipe in Charleston County on Thursday after it got stuck.

The kitten, named Baby, had been missing from its colony for over a week when someone spotted it on the roof of Nason Medical Center on James Island, according to DeDe Tyler of Pet Helpers adoption center and Spay/Neuter Clinic.

Tyler said they knew it must have been Baby based on the description and the proximity to the cat's colony. She said that roaming cats that live in colonies in Charleston County are often spayed, neutered and tagged on the ear for tracking.

The colony Baby belongs to is fed by a local woman, who noticed Baby was missing over a week ago.

At some point after the kitten was spotted, it slid headfirst down a drainpipe and became stuck.

Baby was rescued later on Thursday evening.
