SHREVEPORT, LA (Tucson News Now) -

The Arizona Wildcats held their first Shreveport workout today as they get set for the Advocare V100 Bowl Tuesday night against Boston College.

After that practice head coach Rich Rodriguez told the Arizona Daily Star that backup quarterback Javelle Allen, a redshirt freshman, has been dismissed from the team.

Allen had played sparingly this season. His biggest highlight was a 61-yard touchdown run in the team's season-opening winning over Northern Arizona. He carried the ball eight times for 79 yards and threw just one pass.

Rodriguez also indicated that Nick Isham and Jesse Scroggins will via for the number two position behind starter B. J. Denker.

Our David Kelly and UA tight end Glenn Howell will weigh in the Allen situation and the battle of the running backs tonight, it's Wildcat Preview on FOX 11 at 9:40 p.m. as we continue our coverage leading off to kickoff at 11:30 a.m. New Year's Eve.
