BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

A new lawsuit has been filed in connection to the suspected gas leak and deadly explosion in the Gate City housing community.

Vantanise Goins, Thomas Miller and their children are claiming negligence against Alagasco and the Birmingham Housing Authority.

[Read the entire lawsuit here.]

An explosion ripped apart two five-bedroom units in the Marks Village housing complex in Gate City around 2:45 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17. Tyrennis Laval Mabry, 40, was killed in the explosion.

Darryle Brown, Mabry's fiance who was critically injured in the explosion, filed a lawsuit against Alagasco last week. Both Brown and Mabry were found buried underneath the apartment's rubble hours after the explosion occurred. Brown was still recovering in the hospital when his lawyer filed the lawsuit.

Brown's suit claims the housing authority failed to respond to complaints of gas leaks in the area.
