TUSCALOOSA COUNTY, AL (WBRC) -

The Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's deputy charged with DUI in November has resigned as of Dec. 6 according to the county's administrator.

Former deputy Patrick Bailey was placed on administrative leave following his arrest on a DUI charge.

A state trooper's report showed Bailey was going the wrong way on an I-59 exit ramp when he crashed into a semi-truck on Nov. 15.

The report says Bailey was in a personal vehicle when he tried to cross I-59 traveling in the wrong direction and crashed into an 18-wheeler. No one was seriously hurt in the accident.

Bailey was involved in at least three other accidents since 2006, according to state troopers' reports, but none of the crashes led to any charges.

Bailey had been with the sheriff's department for just under two years at the time of the wreck.
