EVANSTON, OH (FOX19) -

Police are investigating the first homicide of the new year that left one person dead and another injured.

A shooting was reported in the 1600 block of Potter Place in Evanston around 1:45 a.m.

Authorities found a man lying on the ground in front of a residence with a gunshot wound to the chest, identified as 37-year-old Charles Foggie. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A second victim was also shot and taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. Their identity has not been released.

According to police, one person was taken into custody in connection to the shooting. Further details were not immediately available.
