The stabbing was reported January 1 around 7:00 a.m. on England Drive, formerly known as Stephens Road. Police found Schreiber, from Villa Hills, dead in the backyard of the home.

According to investigators, a group of people were gathered at the home on New Year's Eve when a confrontation broke out around 5:30 p.m. Specific events that led to the stabbing remain under investigation.
