MONROE TWP (FOX19) -

A 68-year-old woman is dead and another is in the hospital following a head-on, two-vehicle collision in Monroe Township.

The crash happened around 1 p.m. Wednesday on Bush Creek Road, just south of Beasley Fork Road in Monroe Township.

Officers say that Phyllis Walls, 68, was traveling southbound on Bush Creek Road when the accident occurred. Authorities say that Walls failed to yield the right-half of the roadway while taking a curve.

Her vehicle stuck a northbound vehicle head-on. The northbound vehicle was driven by 69-year-old Mary Channell of Manchester, Ohio.

Walls was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers say that Channell was transported to UC Medical Center by helicopter. Channell's condition is unknown at this time.

The crash is currently under investigation.
