MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

A new towing ordinance hit the books yesterday morning for the City of Montgomery.

The new ordinance says if a driver is involved in an accident, and they do not have a driver's license and/or auto insurance, the driver will be ticketed by police and the vehicle will be towed.

If the driver's vehicle is towed they will then be forced to pay the ticket fees and the towing fee, a cost that could exceed more than 600 dollars.

City officials are still waiting to work some things out with the ordinance and do not expect it to be fully enforced for about a month or two.

The Montgomery City Council passed the new ordinance back in November of 2013.
