TUSCALOOSA, AL (WBRC) -

Tuscaloosa Metro Homicide investigators released new information Thursday in the case of a deadly New Year's Day crash in Tuscaloosa.

Lt. Kip Hart identifies the victims as 20-year-old Shakevia Washington and 45-year-old Evelyn Page. Hart says the two women were friends. Police had previously said the women were related.

Hart says the groups of people traveling in the two cars involved in the wreck knew each other, but it's not clear if they were going to or coming from the same place.

Hart added that 22-year-old KiAnthony Davis, the suspect in the case, was not granted bond because he was out on bond for another offense, for which he was granted youthful offender status.

Hart says another 22-year-old male injured in the crash is hospitalized in stable condition.

"At this time we just ask for continued prayers for all families involved," Satonia Fields, the niece of Evelyn Page, said in a statement to FOX6.

The crash happened around 3 a.m. on Wednesday at the intersection of McFarland Blvd. and 15th Street. Investigators say KiAnthony Davis was speeding and ran a red light. They believe alcohol was involved.

Page's family says they hope this will show the consequences of drinking and driving. Please join us during FOX6 News at 9 and 10 to hear more from the family.
