Loveland woman sentenced for chase that injured 2 officers

LEBANON, OH (FOX19) -

A Loveland woman was sentenced to six years in prison on Thursday for leading troopers on a 23-mile pursuit and crashing into a police cruiser in Warren County.

Benjie Brown, 43, was found sleeping in a stolen mini-van in the I-71 rest area in Warren County by Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) troopers in May 2013. When troopers investigated, Brown fled southbound on I-71.

She then exited the highway onto State Route 123, went through Lebanon, continued onto State Route 48 and eventually got back onto I-71.

Authorities said Brown avoided stop sticks during the pursuit, and slightly injured a Mason police officer in the process. He was taken to the hospital for injuries to his left arm and later released.

Just south of Kings Island on southbound I-71, she collided with an OSHP cruiser. The impact caused the cruiser to crash into a concrete barrier. Police said speeds exceeded 125 miles per hour during the chase.

The trooper had minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

Brown was convicted of felonious assault on a police officer and failure to comply with the order of a police officer.

In addition to six years in prison, Brown was ordered to pay $25,313 in restitution. Her driving privileges were also suspended for life.
