The Hyundai Motor Company is celebrating another record-breaking sales month following a brisk month in December 2013. Sales for the month were up six percent over the same month in 2012 with 63,005 units sold.
Company officials say it was the best December in company history and the first time it has ever topped the 60K mark for the month.
The company also broke its annual sales record for set back in 2012. For the year, the South Korean automaker saw sales up 2.5 percent over 2012 with a total of 720,783 units.
The company's Montgomery, Alabama built Sonata and Elantra models accounted for a hefty chunk of sales with more than 450,000 units (Sonata: 203,648 and Elantra: 247,912). While the Sonata's total year sales were down 12 percent, the Elantra was up 23 percent.
