FORT PAYNE, AL (WAFF) -
Police in DeKalb County said they have
suspects in the recent burglary of the county's shop. Some of the stolen items
have been recovered, thanks to an alert pawn shop employee.
Fort Payne Police said the county shop on
Briarwood Avenue was burglarized sometime between Dec. 19 and Dec. 26, while
workers were off for the holidays.
When they returned, a couple thousand dollars
worth of tools had been stolen from the shop, as well as nearly 20 batteries
taken from county vehicles.
Some of the tools were later discovered at a
county pawn shop as investigators began seeking out information as to who was
responsible for the thefts.
"Later in the day, we recovered the rest of
the tools from one of the suspects that we have in this case. We've got two
suspects… no arrests have been made. There is possibly a third suspect," said
Assistant Chief Ronnie Warren.
The assistant chief said the batteries have
not been recovered, but the investigation is ongoing.
