ELMORE COUNTY, AL (WSFA) -

The Elmore County Emergency Management Agency and Homeland Security Office, are opening warming stations in response to the extreme cold weather.

Officials are partnering with the Elmore County Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster to open five warming stations in Elmore County beginning at noon, on Monday January 6th.

Individuals may stop by the stations to warm up, but officials stress these sites are not shelters. No meals, showers or bedding will be provided.

Below are the five locations that will open to serve as warming stations:

  • First Baptist Church – 1279 Friendship Rd, Tallassee
  • First United Methodist Church of Millbrook - 3350 Edgewood Rd, Millbrook
  • Robinson Springs United Methodist Church – 5980 Main St., Millbrook
  • First United Methodist of Tallassee – 1 Jordan Ave, Tallassee
  • Millbrook Baptist Church – 3431 Brown Rd, Millbrook. OPEN:  Jan 6th & 7th, from noon to 6 p.m. only.
