MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) – Cold temperatures hitting the Mid-South are causing delays and school closings.

Passengers with nowhere to go are stranded at the Memphis Greyhound bus station for yet another night. Some passengers have been stranded since the weekend.

Lisa White and her son are hoping to get home to Chicago eventually.

"It's been really rough," she said.

Schools in Chicago are closed. Where the Michigan Avenue bridge would normally be packed with foot traffic, it is not so in the frigid city with just a few brave tourists.

The people at the Greyhound bus station in Memphis are only left with a spot on the floor to sleep.

The Red Cross partnered with Catholic Charities to serve stranded passengers food from Lenny's.

They also provided much-needed blankets, a kit with personal items, as well as teddy bears for the children.

Susan Penner and her young son have been on a Greyhound bus since Friday leaving Mexico. They were stranded in El Paso and stranded again in Memphis. They hope to eventually get to Canada.

"I didn't expect it, and it's been a blessing. I thank the Lord for it. There are some kind people out there who came when things happened like this unexpected," Penner said.

The people in the bus station are going to have to wait out the weather. Many passengers have no idea when they will be able to leave.
