TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Gabrielle Giffords marked the anniversary of the Jan. 8 shootings by going skydiving in Eloy.

Giffords made the jump with her friend and former Navy Seal, Jim Hatch.

Just before the jump, Giffords sent a tweet and thanked Vice President Joe Biden for a good luck call.

After the jump, her husband, Mark Kelly, tweeted a picture and said, "Gabby landed beautifully. Happy she's safe. So proud of her bravery."

Giffords also tweeted about her recovery.

"Three years after the shooting that almost took my life, I can move my arm again. Grit can overcome paralysis."
