Bessemer police arrest 18-year-old for robbery

BESSEMER, AL (WBRC) -

Bessemer Police have charged an 18-year-old for allegedly robbing a woman at a shopping center.

Lt. Darron Hunter says that officers responded to a robbery call Jan. 4 at the Colonial Tannehill Promenade Mall.

The female victim told them she had just finished shopping and was putting her infant grandson into her vehicle when another vehicle pulled up beside her.

She says a suspect got out of the other vehicle, pointed a handgun at her and demanded money and other items. The suspect then fled with two other subject in the vehicle.

Officers were able to track down and arrest Dwayne Mikal Ford, 18, and have charged him with robbery. He is being held on a $10,000 bond.

Detectives were able to recover the victim's stolen possessions.
