CENTER POINT, AL (WBRC) -
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office says a plumber made a shocking discovery Friday.
A plumber was going underneath a house in the 1600 block of 4th Avenue Northwest in Center Point to repair some broken pipes.
Deputies say the plumber found a 56-year-old male sitting in a chair "with no sign of life." The Jefferson County Coroner's Office has identified the man as Fred Williams, Jr.
Officials say there is no sign of foul play and Williams died of natural causes. They add that Williams did have several health problems.
Chief Deputy Randy Christian says Williams is the ex-husband of the home's resident. Christian says that Williams no longer lives at the house and has not been seen for several days.
The resident tells deputies the she doesn't know why Williams would be under the house.
FOX6 News spoke with family members who say they're in shock over their loved one's death. They say Williams was a man who loved his children.
The coroner adds that the crawl space was large enough for someone to sit upright in and that because the cause of death was due to natural causes, the investigation has been closed.
