MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

Montgomery officials came together on Friday to review the 2013 crime statistics. After the city recorded 50 homicides last year, leaders are hoping things will be different for this year.  There have been no homicides recorded as of yet.

During the hour long meeting, law enforcement officials and the mayor discussed ideas on how to curb the homicide rate in 2014.

"At the end of the day we just have to love one another," said Mayor Todd Strange. The mayor admitted that sounds good in theory and knows it's highly unlikely this city of 208,000 will sail through another year without a murder.

Coming up on Alabama Live, Central Alabama CrimeStoppers will be doing a LIVE segment to discuss ways you and your valuables safe in 2014. They will also discuss the rising statistics on robberies and burglaries for January and February.
