SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

Springfield firefighters are looking for the public's help after a string of fires on the same street in less than 24 hours.

Firefighters responded to a house fire at 48 Cherry St. at about 8:15 p.m. Monday. They responded to a car fire at 90 Cherry St. less than an hour before.

Firefighters say someone set those fires.

Monday night's fires are the second and third time firefighters have responded to Cherry Street since Sunday night.

A fire destroyed a Mercedes at 90 Cherry St. Sunday night at about 10:20.

The Mercedes was unregistered, according to Springfield firefighters, and the fire caused about $5,000 in damages to a home nearby.

Anyone with any information or saw anything suspicious is asked to call the Arson and Bomb Squad at 413-787-6370.

CBS 3 Springfield will update this breaking news story as soon as more information becomes available.
