(WMC-TV) - The death of a driver at a Brownsville railroad crossing has rail safety becoming a greater concern in Haywood County.

Tyler Stroder was killed at the rail crossing in December where only a sign, with no lights or gates, warn drivers of oncoming trains.

The crash victim's fiance says she is encouraged that people are signing petitions demanding greater safety measures.

"That's all I'm trying to do: make sure something is done so this doesn't happen again. This is the fourth accident that has happened here and the second fatality," said fiancé Areanna Reyna.

Nearly 1,000 people have signed a petition demanding greater safety measures at the crossing but another 5,000 names are needed.

A fundraiser will be held Saturday, January 18 at The Farms in Covington to raise funds for Tyler Stroder's 17-month-old son, Braden.
