HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Huntsville Police responded to a fatal wreck involving two trucks Tuesday morning.

The crash happened around 7 a.m. on Bailey Cove Road at Green Mountain Road, in front of All Saints Lutheran Church. The wreck was a head-on collision between two trucks. Huntsville Police and firefighters responded to the scene.

Both drivers were taken to the hospital. One of the drivers, Zachary Easterling, 34, of Huntsville, died in the accident. The other driver, an off-duty police officer, has had surgery and is in critical condition.

Police said Easterling's pickup crossed over into the northbound lanes for unknown reasons. The cause of the wreck is still under investigation.

All four lanes of Bailey Cove Road were shut down from Ravenwood Circle to Cedarwood Circle following the crash.
