RANKIN COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The Sheriff's Department made two more arrests on Monday following a dog fighting bust in Rankin County.

Forty-eight-year-old Benjamin Nelson Williams and 29-year-old Reddick Raynard Kelly are facing felony dog fighting charges.

Many of our viewers have expressed mixed reviews about whether or not fighting dogs can be rehabbed.

WLBT's Annette Peagler talked to Leah Thompson, who has rehabbed 18 pit bulls herself, some that were fighting dogs.

Thompson works at Hollywood Feed in Ridgeland and has experience handling pit bulls.

She says rehabbing can be done, but it takes time because pit bulls are a powerful breed.

"Probably one of the most common misconceptions is I honestly believe, and I've worked with tons of dogs, but I believe pit bills are one of the most easily trained dogs that you can have," said Thompson. "They are entirely people friendly and so they want to please their owners and I think that gets exploited a lot and that's why they become fighting dogs"

She says most of these fighting dogs are euthanized because of the lack of facilities willing to take them.

We will continue to monitor what will happen to the pit bulls that were seized.

The five men arrested from the dog fight will face a judge Tuesday morning.
