Man convicted in 2012 Covington officer shooting

COVINGTON, KENTUCKY (FOX19) -

Pharo Wilson was convicted of three counts of attempted murder on Tuesday night after shooting a Covington police officer in 2012.

Wilson, 26, was arrested in September of 2012 after exchanging gunfire with four officers before leading them on a 12-hour manhunt.

Police say Spc. Mark Richardson was shot in the foot during the gunfire. His injuries were not life-threatening.

Officers say that they were initially responding to a robbery at a poker game in the 2200 block of Todd Court when the incident occurred.

Police say Pharo Wilson shot at officers from an elevated position on the second floor of an apartment building. Covington Police Chief Spike Jones says officers were located on an exposed area outside the apartments on ground level.

Shortly after the shooting, police identified Wilson as the suspect and began to track him down. Wilson was later apprehended at the Fireside Motel.

According to Kenton County Jail records, Wilson is a previously convicted felon with a lengthy criminal history dating back to 2005 that includes drug charges, assault, escape and disorderly conduct. Covington Police Chief Spike Jones said he was released from state prison after serving a minimum sentence in 2011 for trafficking in a controlled substance.

Wilson was convicted on Tuesday night. He will be sentenced at a later date. Wilson could get 20-50 years or life in prison.
