MONTGOMERY, AL (WBRC) -

On Wednesday, Alabamians will get their first look at the real numbers of the state budget plan following the governor's State of the State Address on Tuesday night.

Wednesday will definitely be one of the biggest days of the legislative session, because it will reveal what the governor wants the budgets to look like. During the governor's State of the State Address, he gave only several brief nods as to what his budget plans look like.

Bentley wants to give another 2% raise to teachers. He wants a conditional 4% raise for state workers if the money is there and he wants more money for pre-k, very similar to his plan last year.

"Pre-k closes the achievement gap for lower income students by as much as 29% and, because of these proven results, I'm including more funding for voluntary pre-k in my budget," said Bentley, during the address.

We will be looking to the governor to see what his plan is for getting money to programs like Medicaid, prisons, and public safety while dealing with a looming budget shortfall.
