GAUTIER, MS (WLOX) -

A Biloxi man is dead and his killer is still on the loose. Gautier investigators believe Hunter Miller, 26, was shot in the back while in a car around 8pm Tuesday. When police arrived they said several people were surrounding the car.

"I thought maybe he had a seizure or something, and then I saw the guy snatch him out of the car and said, 'I think my friend's been shot, I think my friend's been shot,'" College Park resident Lisa Clark said.

Clark heard the crash and ran outside. She saw Miller unconscious in the driver's seat and said there was another man in the car, too.

"The other guy kept asking me and another guy, 'Can you take me to the store to meet my girlfriend?' I didn't think nothing of it, so I said, 'Sure,' and we took him and then we came back."

Police said they have identified a suspect that may be involved in the shooting, but will not say if it is the man Clark said was in the car with Miller.

Gautier Police Lt. Scott Wilson, "There were several witness we have; we are talking to them right now trying to follow all the leads that we can."

Police believe Miller may have been shot while in a car on University, drove about a half a mile down the street, crossed Ladnier Road and then crashed into a fence outside College Park Elementary School.

While police do not yet have a motive for the murder, College Park residents are quick to guess.

"Up in this neighborhood, it is drugs," Clark said. "Drugs everywhere."

"It's tragedy that it happened," Amy Sadd said. "I don't know what happened, but I'm assuming it's gang or drug related because it is just the neighborhood."

Sadd said she hears a gunshot almost every week in the neighborhood.

If you have any information about the murder, you are asked to call Gautier Police at (228) 497-2486.
