COVINGTON CO., AL (WSFA) -

Officials in Gantt say they are working to restore services to customers after an early morning explosion resulted from a gas regulator malfunction.

South East Alabama Gas Company says the regulator has been repaired, and they are now working to restore services to the 63 customers affected. This will require the meters to be turned on manually.

Shannon Jackson with the SEAGC says, "Our biggest concern right now is restoring service to our customers. Expect to see representatives in the area, but do not be alarmed. If your service has been disrupted, and you see a representative, you may want to let them know."

The explosion occurred at the intersection of U.S. Hwy 29 North and Central street Point A road around 1:30 a.m. Thursday.

Covington County's Chief Deputy says a precautionary evacuation of the immediate area was done, but no injuries were reported.
