ENTERPRISE, AL (WSFA) -

The economy is looking bright for the Wiregrass. Friday a ground breaking ceremony was held in Enterprise for the company Alabama Aircraft Support. It's another step to help the aerospace industry continue to grow in the state.

Alabama Aircraft Support is expanding by building a new 64,800-square-foot facility next to the airport. With the expansion is expected to create 200 jobs. Leaders say these are high paying jobs with an average salary of $24 an hour.

"There is a great workforce here," said David Sosa, principal at Bright Waters Partners.

"Just to be able to be a part of creating that job for that mother or father or single person looking for that great job means a great deal," stated Enterprise Mayor, Kenneth Boswell.

The project is a $12 million investment for the city, which includes the facility along with infrastructure improvements. But with an $18 million economic impact for the Wiregrass annually, city leaders say it's well worth it.

"You think of the multiplier effect that comes to this area," said Governor Robert Bentley.

It's not just the jobs and money that inclines leaders to believe this business will continue to soar. They say the region and company are a tight fit.

"You have a workforce here that are associated with this area and are trained already," Boswell said.

"We are looking forward to impacting peoples' lives in a positive way. It's heartwarming for us," Sosa said.

Alabama Aircraft Support already has a facility in Enterprise. Business leaders say they plan to still use that building for a parts distribution company. It's not definite yet so leaders couldn't give a number, but it's believed that will also create more jobs. Officials hope to have the building complete by October and much of the employees already hired before then.
