Selma barber shop owner arrested in fatal shooting

SELMA, AL (WSFA) -

The owner of the Selma barber shop where a man was shot and killed on Friday has been arrested on probable cause for murder, according to Selma police.

Thirty-one-year-old David Johnson was detained at the scene and taken to the Selma Police Department for questioning, and after being interviewed, was arrested.

Police say, according to witnesses, a verbal altercation concerning the victim's appointment with Mr. Johnson, led to them joking, which became personal, leading to a physical altercation, which lead to Mr. Johnson pulling a weapon and shooting the victim.

The shooting took place Friday around 7 p.m. at Eighty's Rack Barbershop in the 2800 Block of Citizen Parkway, which is in the city limits of Selma

When officers arrived, they found a black male in his thirties, unresponsive, lying inside the barbershop with two gunshot wounds, one to the right leg and another to the lower left of his back.

Mr. Johnson is currently being held at the Dallas County Jail with a bond of $100,000. Murder is a Class A Felony. A Taurus .380 was recovered from the scene. This murder marks the second of 2014 for Selma.
