NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - The City of New Orleans is remembering civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with a number of events.
An opening program at city hall will kick off the day's festivities at 9 a.m. Afterwards, a march honoring Dr. King leaves city hall at 9:45 and ends at the M.L.K. Memorial at the intersection of South Claiborne Avenue and Felicity Street.
Also this morning, Hands on New Orleans and the New Orleans Women Artist Collective will host a service project from 9 a.m. until noon in the Treme Community Garden.
Finally, City Year New Orleans will hold a volunteer event from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. at Arthur Ashe Charter School for the national service day.
