SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

Narcotics detectives from the Springfield Police Department conducted a raid Tuesday afternoon that led to the discovery of 50 bags of heroin and a stolen shotgun.

Detectives determined following an investigation that heroin was being sold by three individuals out of the third-floor apartment at 25 Bartlett St., according to Springfield Police Sergeant John Delaney.

"Detectives determined that the drug dealers would deliver the heroin to waiting customers in rental cars," Delaney said in a news release.

Detectives secured a search warrant after conducting a surveillance operation. They raided the apartment at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Delaney said.

Police charged Eva-Berrios Diaz, 27, and Jose Velasquez, 24, both of 25 Bartlett St., and, Jean Rivera, 22, of 4 Armory St., Greenfield, MA, with possession with intent to distribute heroin, possession of a firearm without a license, and receiving stolen property. All three subjects were arraigned in Springfield District Court Wednesday.

Police seized 50 bags of heroin, $578 cash, a small amount of marijuana, and a Mossberg Model 88, 12-gauge shotgun, according to Delaney. The firearm was reportedly stolen during a burglary on Pelham Street in Springfield in 2010.
