Now that the city of Biloxi will be the new home of the Huntsville Stars baseball team, the rush is on to build a place to play.

The city will build a $36 million stadium. But the stadium must be ready by March 28th next year so the season can begin a few days later. If not, the city could fork over $10,000 for every scheduled home game that must be played elsewhere.

March 28, 2015 is just 14 months away and it would appear the city will have real trouble meeting the deadline. Just a month delay could mean a $150,000 penalty.

It's clear the league wants the team here and the city wants baseball in Biloxi. But we would hope that penalty clause would not be enforced. A $10,000 per game penalty is not a good way to start a 20 year relationship for baseball in Biloxi.

That's our opinion, we would like to hear yours. Email your thoughts to editorials@wlox.com.
