TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Lezo Urreiztieta was remembered Wednesday night as a young man who was the epitome of a student-athlete, driven to become a doctor but with a sense of humor that captivated everyone he came in contact with.

The UA junior walk-on hurdler and former state champion at Canyon del Oro High School, died in December after complications from brain surgery.

The theme of the evening was Be Lezo Like.

Being Lezo Like was described, by the many speakers who walked to the podium to talk about Urreiztieta, as being caring and compassionate for others.

Our David Kelly captured the essence of the tribute in these two reports.
