Police: Auburn woman steals identity from acquaintance, spends thousands

AUBURN, AL (WTVM) -

Police have arrested Amber M. Miller, 31, of Auburn, onWednesday, Jan. 22, 2014 for allegedly stealing another Auburn woman's identityand spending several thousand dollars on fraudulent credit cards.

On Jan. 1, 2014, a victim filed a report with police from ahome in the 400 block of Belmonte Dr. The victim told officers that Miller, anacquaintance, had stolen personal information while visiting the home.

Miller allegedly used the information to open credit cardaccounts in the victim's name. Police say she made various purchases with thecards between March and May of 2013 totaling over $11,000.

During investigation, police issued felony warrants chargingMiller with two counts of Identity Theft and two counts of Fraudulent Use of aCredit/Debit Card.

Miller was arrested for these charges, was transported to theLee County Jail, and will be eligible for a $16,000 bond.
