HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Governor Bentley arrived in Huntsville Thursday for a major economic announcement and ribbon-cutting. New jobs are coming as a local business announced plans to expand.

Bentley was one of the speakers at the event at the GE Intelligent Platforms plant in Huntsville, along with Mayor Tommy Battle and others.

The expansion includes a new building, a Center of Excellence that will expand the business. The facility already has nearly 250 employees and the expansion will create 50 more.

Mayor Battle said this has been in the works since August 2012. He said this is just a glimpse of what is to come for Huntsville and its growing economy.

Governor Bentley said the expansion is a compliment to Huntsville and its people.
