Hazel Green, AL (WAFF) -

A fire broke out Sunday afternoon in Hazel Green, requiring the services of four local fire crews.

The fire was reported around 2 p.m. along McKenzie Drive. What started as a grass fire moved into two structures: a garage and a storage shed, destroying them. Two mobile homes were spared. About five acres of land were burned.

Firefighters were putting out the hotspots after getting the initial blaze contained.

Meridianville, Hazel Green, Bobo, and New Market departments all responded to the fire. An investigation into the cause is underway.
