NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Police arrested three teenagers they believe are connected with several car burglaries in Algiers.

Fourth District officers received a report that two people were seen breaking in to cars while a third stood as look-out just before midnight on Jan. 25. According to NOPD, officers were on the scene within three minutes where they arrested a 16-year-old suspect. The other two suspects already ran, so police set up a perimeter around the neighborhood and called in a K-9 unit. The police dogs quickly located the other two suspects, one of which was bitten and had to be taken to a nearby hospital.

18-year-old Rikki Newell was booked with 4 counts of Simple Burglary of a Motor Vehicle and Illegal Possession of a Stolen Firearm. Information learned by detectives through interviews has led them to investigate Newell as a possible suspect in other car burglaries in Algiers.

18-year-old Dwayne Reed was also booked with 4 counts of Simple Burglary of a Motor Vehicle and had a fugitive attachment out of Baton Rouge for an alleged rape.

The 16-year-old was booked with 4 counts of Simple Burglary of a Motor Vehicle as well as Possession of Imitation Narcotics.
