Louisiana Tech's Kenneth Smith was named the Conference USA Player of the Week for week 12, announced by the league office today.
The junior guard was a huge reason for LA Tech earning two conference wins this past week by 20-plus points.
Smith headed up a defense which forced Charlotte into 24 turnovers and he dished out a season-high 13 assists with only two turnovers to his name in the 80-60 victory over the 49ers.
As if that was not great enough, the St. Petersburg, Fla. native came out two nights later and dished out another 13 assists to only one turnover.
Smith did much more than that though in the 98-77 win over Marshall. He also recorded a season-high 17 points and six steals despite having to leave the game to get an IV.
The double-double was his second of the season.
He is now averaging 7.4 assists per game which ranks third in the country, along with 2.5 steals per game which is 14th in the country.
This is the first C-USA Player of the Week honor for Speedy. He shared the award with Southern Miss' Neil Watson.
