Alabama Power says there is now 12,000 people without power in Alabama. Previously the power had been restored to more than 17,000 customers who lost power due to the winter storm that hit the state Tuesday.
As of 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, just 100 customers across the coverage area were without service. Power was expected to be restored to the remaining customers by midnight.
The American Red Cross is coordinating with local emergency officials to open warming stations in the Dothan area.

Warming stations are also available in Ashford, Webb, Columbia, Cottonwood and Kinsey. Buses may be available for transportation. If you need assistance making your way to the warming station, call 615-HELP (615-4357). If you have a medical emergency, call 911.
