BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Things slowly returned to normal in and around the Capitol City on Thursday. I-110 opened shortly before noon and by the afternoon all roads were opened.

Many people took the opportunity to hit a local car wash as many vehicles were dirty with slush. Joe Brine is the manager of Benny's car wash. "Obviously with the roads being sanded down to try and get rid of the ice they need to get them clean so that's what we're here for," says Brine.

Kia Colby brought her daughter Kai Col. "By being cooped up especially with two babies...I'm staying with my mom and my mother in law and she has a three year old so it's definitely nice to get out of the house. Get a change of scenery," said Colby.

Over at Tots N Toddlers, Asst. Director Genny White was met by parents waiting to drop off kids when they opened Thursday morning. "I had cars waiting to come in people ready to go back to work they are ready to get back to normal...get my kid and let me go," says White.

But hey mom and dad, the kids feel the same way. "The kids have been fantastic. I haven't had any problems with the kids they love coming in. it's a routine here. They know what they are doing when they play, they sleep, they learn and they eat and eat and eat," says White.

All schools resume on Friday.
