SCOTTSDALE, AZ (CBS5) -

Thursday, an attendance record was set at the Waste Management Phoenix Open and 88,113 people packed the facility, but not everyone was there to watch the golf.

"I definitely came out here to see what's going on. (I'm here for) the people watching, the latest greatest outfits, the food and beverage and what bloody mary might be the best," said Michele Wood. She and her friend, Tuyen Dien joked they were "single with boyfriends."

We caught up with some people who actually enjoyed the sport, but couldn't help but check out the social scene.

"There are a lot of humans hunting out here. For mates or for partners," said Joe Sector, who was camped in a chair on top of a hill.

Sector said he liked to watch the golfers warm up, but he also thought it was fun to watch the cat and mouse game going on throughout the tournament.

Three women were also camped out on the same hill. They didn't want to give their names, but said they were simply at the Waste Management Phoenix Open for fun.

"(It's like) a fashion show," said one of the friends.

"Or a fashion emergency. I think more often than not it's like emergency 911. (You see) some fashion stuff, and you go 'Where did you get that? I want that!' Other times it's like 911. I need another drink because that traumatized me."
