BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

As part of the 2014 Mardi Gras season, a new festival is happening down in New Orleans. The first ever King Cake Festival kicks off in the Big Easy next weekend.

More than 40 bakeries will be going for the title of best King Cake, but only one is from the Baton Rouge area.

The family over at Heavenly Donut will be making the 80-or-so mile trip next weekend for the competition, and they say it's an honor to be included.

The festival is February 9, 2014 at Champions Square in front of the Super Dome. It starts at 11 a.m.
