CHANDLER, AZ (CBS5/AP) -

Authorities have released the name of a state employee who died while working near a Chandler freeway.

Chandler police said the death of 57-year-old Ronald Griffin isn't considered suspicious.

But because Griffin was alone at the time Friday, police say they are awaiting the cause of death from the Maricopa Medical Examiner's Office.

Police said Griffin worked for the Arizona Department of Transportation and was cleaning out an area of a runoff canal near Hamilton and Willis in Chandler, near the 202 San Tan Freeway.

Co-workers found his body about 3 p.m. Friday.
