PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) -

A Phenix City man celebrates 110 years of life today!

Eufaula native James Richardson was born on Jan. 2, 1904 and his family and friends gathered at Parkwook Health Care on Tuesday to celebrate his 110th birthday.

Richardson was one of 12 children and leaves behind several great nephews and great nieces.

We spoke with one of his great nieces and when we asked how she believes Richardson has lived so long, here is what she had to say.

"By the grace of God," said Leila Jackson. "That's the only that's keeping you alive is God's grace, and mercy"

Richardson gives these words of advice for living a long life: he says trust and believe in God and treat everyone right.
