BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

Birmingham is getting high marks for its reaction to last week's snow storm.

Mayor William Bell recognized and praised his city department heads on Tuesday for their around the clock work during the weather crisis. Birmingham Fire Chief Ivor Brooks will be reviewing the city's actions to see if anything can be improved for the next weater event.

"We will get a report from each department head and basically he will let me know exactly what their needs were, what they saw, so we can improve our plan," said Brooks.

City Councilman Stephen Hoyt has suggested the use of a 1-800 number for citizens to call in during weather emergencies. As for big purchases of equipment, Council President Johnathan Austin does not see the city buying snow plows.
