TUSCALOOSA, AL (WBRC) -

Tuscaloosa police have charged a 23-year-old man with rape and sodomy after he was allegedly found in a room with a 13-year-old girl.

Police responded to a distur home on Juanita Drive around 12:30 a.m. Jan. 25 on a report of a disturbance. The homeowner detained Marcus Steven McCorkle after he found him inside the home with a 13-year-old girl who lived in the residence.

The teenage victim was no longer at the home, so investigators were unable to question her. McCorkle was released at the time, but investigators later obtained warrants against him.

McCorkle is charged with second degree rape and second degree sodomy. He was arrested on Feb. 3 after a brief foot chase near Eddins Road.

McCorkle was treated for injuries he received while "running from officers through briers," Sgt. Brent Blankely said.

He is custody of the Tuscaloosa COunty Jail on a $45,000 bond.
