MADISON COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

The Madison County Health Department handed I Love Korea on Jordan Lane in Huntsville an 84. The inspector reported that the hand sink in the sushi area and the hand sink in the kitchen were broken. The inspector said those were the only sinks in those areas and both were unusable.

Nan's in Sheffield scored an 83. A Colbert County health inspector reported that workers at the bar and grill used bare hands to touch ready-to-eat foods. Nan's also lost points because the dish machine wasn't sanitizing.

Three restaurants earned perfect scores during their inspections, all of them in Decatur. The Subway inside the Walmart on Spring Avenue scored a 100. So did the Firehouse Subs on Spring Avenue. Franchise owner Dexter Troullier said he and his staff pride themselves on keeping the restaurant clean.

"It's important because customers pay attention to it. They come in, they want fast service, they want good food, but they also want everything to be clean at the same time," he said.

Mel's Sweet Treat's at Funland Park off of 14th street in Decatur also scored a perfect 100. Melissa Cook owns the business, which is primarily a bakery where they make cookies and candy. They also serve sandwiches and salads for lunch. She said keeping the bakery clean and safe for her customers is a top priority.

"We're really big on cleaning as we go throughout the day. Clean up your mess when done with something. And at the end of the day, it's about an hour and a half or two hours of just cleaning," she said.
