FORT BENNING, GA (WTVM) -

The Old Guard performed at a graduation ceremony on Fort Benning on Friday, Feb. 7.

The Old Guard is one of the oldest premiere units of the U.S. Army, dating back to 1784. It was designated as a ceremonial unit in the 20th century.

Today, they performed at the graduation ceremony of the F Company of the 198th Infantry Brigade.

The drills are performed without vocal cadence, command or musical cues. The team's intricate maneuvers are the result of discipline, training and constant practice.

"We do this up to 4 times a week, it just depends on the season and the number of requests that we receive," said Capt. Leonidas Marin, drill team commander.

The drill team is considered a specialty platoon within the old guard.

They conduct memorial affairs to honor our fallen soldiers as well as perform at NFL and other major professional teams, as well as J ROTC competitions and basic training graduations.
