OPELIKA, AL (WSFA) -

Authorities with International Paper in Prattville are confirming that a contract worker was injured in an accident around 8:30 Monday morning.

Company officials say the worker's family was notified and he was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

"Our primary focus is for the safety of the people on our mill site," said spokeswoman Susan Poole. "The mill's emergency response team at the mill, community emergency personnel all responded quickly and effectively."

Poole said the incident resulted in a fire in the bark bin area of the mill but that it was quickly contained.

Details about the exact cause of the accident were not released.
