DECATUR, AL (WAFF) -

The City of Decatur is looking to save money by getting rid of year-round ice at Point Mallard.

The city council will debate a resolution next week that would cut down the Ice Complex at Point Mallard from a year-round skating rink to a seasonal event.

The city-operated Point Mallard has had a rough economic history as of late. Things have been turning around recently, and the city said this move will help keep things moving in that direction.
